Healthy-ish Skillet Sloppy Joes

Ingredients:

● 1-pound ground turkey

● 1 chopped yellow onion

● 1 chopped green bell pepper

● ½ cup barbecue sauce

● 1 8 ounce can tomato sauce

● Few dashes worcestershire sauce

● 1 teaspoon salt

● 1 teaspoon black pepper

● 1 teaspoon cumin

● 1 teaspoon garlic powder

● 1 teaspoon chili powder

● 1 teaspoon oregano

● 2 tablespoons olive oil


Instructions:

1. Heat your cast iron pan with olive oil over medium heat. (a 12-inch skillet works perfect for this recipe)

2. When your skillet is hot, add the ground turkey.

3. Break down your ground turkey with a spatula in the pan while it is cooking.

4. When the ground turkey is about half cooked, add your onion and peppers.

5. Cook turkey, onions, and peppers until meat is cooked thoroughly and the onions and peppers are softened.

6. Drain meat if necessary, then add back to the skillet.

7. Reduce heat to low.

8. Add tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, worcestershire sauce, and all of the seasonings.

9. Mix everything well, then allow to simmer for 10 minutes.

10. Serve on your favorite bun/roll and enjoy!


***Tip: We use Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce. The sweetness adds a great flavor.

***Tip: Toasting your buns makes this dish even more enjoyable!
