Ingredients:
● ½ lb. chopped bacon
● 1 small chopped yellow onion
● (2) 15 oz. cans of pork and beans
● ¼ brown sugar
● 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
● 1 tbsp. molasses
● ½ tbsp. honey
● ½ tbsp. yellow mustard
● 6 tbsp. barbecue sauce
● 1 tsp. minced garlic
● ¼ tsp. cayenne
● barbecue rub
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven 350 degrees fahrenheit.
2. On the stovetop, cook the bacon in a preheated 10 in. cast iron skillet until crispy, then remove the bacon with a slotted spoon.
3. Add the chopped onion to the bacon grease and cook until translucent, then remove with a slotted spoon.
4. Remove the cast iron skillet from the heat, and discard excess bacon grease.
5. In a large bowl, mix together cooked bacon, cooked onions, pork and beans, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, molasses, honey, mustard, barbecue sauce, garlic, and cayenne.
6. Dump bean mixture into the cast iron skillet and spread out evenly.
7. Lightly coat the top of the beans with your favorite barbecue rub.
8. Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour, then enjoy!
